Imagine my delight when I came across a wonderful green linen portfolio with a clipboard and solid backing to sketch, write and drawn on, AND four separate roomy sections to store finished artwork or work in progress. A magnetic closure holds it all together. It is in beautiful condition and only cost $ 2.99 at the thrift store!
THIS PHOTO REPRESENTS THE REAL COLOUR GREEN
I began to look through my stash of note/sketchbooks for something that would complement it. I figured at least one for notes would make sense, and pulled out a simple one that looked very efficient and matched the portfolio perfectly. Slim, lined paper... it would do the job.
Then I found a "Butterfly in Spring" note/sketchbook with smooth, unlined cream paper that takes writing and sketching well. A ribbon acts as a page marker, there is an envelope at the back for keepsakes and a sturdy elastic keeps it all together.
I came across another one a friend gave me quite a while back simply because it reminded them of me (a lovely thought and much appreciated.) It has a thicker, smooth, cream lined paper, and a ribbon to mark the pages too.
Last but not least is a 2013 diary another friend gave me last Christmas. The paper is lined, cream, acid-free, rich and velvety to write on. It has an sturdy envelope at the back and two ribbons to mark the pages.
I'm spoiled for choice! Which one do you like the best?

It has to be either the "Butterfly in Spring" or the 3rd one. They are both so beautiful. Then I think the choice comes down to whether or not you prefer lined or unlined.

" This is my favorite.....the one with the fairy on it. Lovely. Happy New Year!
I love your Wild Things! I have one here somewhere, but she could use a little friend. The notebook/journal that is most appealing to me is the one with the woman masked by leaves. I don't know if she is a fairy or not, I prefer to think she could be my Muse! Happy 2014!
I love them all! But I would choose the third one! It is so elegant!I really need a Wild Thing!
They each have wonderful qualities. I love the efficiency and practicality of the green one, but the one with the magical illustrated cover (the third one pictured) so perfectly reflects the theme of illustrating fairy tales. By the way, I too, will be taking this workshop and am very excited about it.
Hi Shena, what a lovely idea!
As for your question: I would go for the simple green notebook or the one with the drawing on it. The green one gos well with the folder, but will also allow you freedom to make your own art (it doesn't seem to lead to a particularstyle of drawing), and after a while you can put a drawing or piece or art work on it (no loss to what is there).
I like the 2013 diary- so rich! Patsy
Those are Gorgeous with a capital G. It's really hard to choose just one, but I guess I'd have to pick #3. And those wild childs, magical. That's actually what brought me to your website. Love them all.
I like the Diary..It has a nice vintage feel and look to it.You know in a book like that there are treasures of art and words.
The "Butterfly in Spring" seems like a nice match -- and envelopes in the back for keepsakes are always enticing...
I like the one with the face on it. It looks like it would fit nicely in your new treasure.
I would love the unlined book on the left. I really would like a wild thing! I like the lightish wild things pictured here! I also like pinks and oranges!
I would go for the unlined book. Like fairies I don't like being confined to the lines. I like the freedom to draw and write at will. Your wild things are wonderful - I am now following your blog and look forward to reading more about your "Wild Things" - I think all women at my age (post menapause) can relate to being a little wild.
2013 diary a friend gave you last Christmas. The paper is lined, cream, acid-free, rich and velvety. You had it at rich and velvety!!! I love rich and velvety on which to put an implement and add my mark.
I believe there are some wild things running around my yard and my home. Another may slow them down...or not.
